Our History

For 125 years, Birch Brothers has been a leader in the design and production of material handling and web processing and converting machinery.

Ours is a rich tradition of innovative manufacturing that dates back to 1883 - the year Albert Birch crossed the ocean from England to America and founded the company we know today as Birch Brothers Southern.

Albert - well known in the industry, was the son of a leading textile machinery designer. He led the company in development, manufacturing and re-engineering of textile machinery and processes- establishing a reputation for unparalleled quality. Albert served as president until 1932 when he passed the reins to his son Clifford, who later was succeeded by his grandson Clifford Junior in 1956.

In the 1960’s, in an effort to keep in close contact with its core customer base, Birch Brothers moved its headquarters to North Carolina under the guidance of the fifth generation of leadership, Steven and Alan Birch.

Today, Birch Brothers continues its reputation of quality craftsmanship, building an even stronger tradition of excellence in advanced technology with a sixth generation of the Birch family at its helm.
